Businesses line up to book display booths in 25th SEA Games
Overseas and domestic businesses are booking booths at the National Stadium to sell products and services during the SEA Games, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors.
“We're receiving a lot of bookings from overseas as well as domestic businesses and offices who want to display their products and services at the stadium,” said Mr Phainith Vorasane, a committee member representing the Alouny Import-Export Company.
The company won a contract from the government to sell booths and install public utilities at the stadium.
“We've had more than 1,600 bookings from Thailand and a lot from Vietnam and China ,” said Mr Phainith. “We have sent invitations to 11 countries and we hope to have more bookings from other countries as well.”
There are plans to build more than 3,400 booths. “It depends on the interest shown by our clients. We might set up more booths if we have more bookings,” said Mr Phainith.
Clients come from all kinds of businesses and offices, especially major companies in various countries.
It costs 8.75 million kip for a domestic customer to rent a booth and 12.5 million kip for foreign clients. Each booth measures 3m x 3m.
“Right now we're working on planning how we'll use the area and allocating places for booths. We'll also install electricity and water connections,” said Mr Phainith.
The company also plans to provide more than 5,000 tents where stallholders and spectators can stay in the event that other accommodation in Vientiane is fully booked.
The booths will be open from November 25 to December 20, before and after the SEA Games which run from December 9 to 18.
