Lao taekwondo fighters to test competitive skills for Vientiane Games 2009

(KPL) The National Taekwondo Federation of the Lao PDR will organise the Asian Taekwondo Championship from 29-31 October at the Boo Yong Indoor Stadium, National University of Laos (Dong Dok Campus).

This event will be participated by many local participants and the athletes from Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia and all of them will compete in five divisions in kata and poomse dances.

The competition is aimed at testing the competitive skills of athletes and the readiness of referees for the sport at the 25th SEA Games, according to Brig. Gen. Vilay Duangmany, President of the National Taekwondo Federation.

Reception held in Brussels for Lao Taekwondo

(KPL) The Lao embassy in Brussels, Belgium organized on 5 May a reception to congratulate the Lao Taekwondo Team who received the gold medal from the 6th Coupe du Monde Francophone, which was held on May 3-4, 2009 in Lille, France.

The function drew a record 26 World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) member countries, reflecting the growing importance of the regional event.

Among the participating nations in the biggest taekwondo event among French-speaking WTF member national associations were 18 African countries.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Southam Sakoniyom, Lao Ambassador to Belgium expressed congratulations to Lao Taekwondo team?s coach and all athletes for their great efforts and contributions to the competition.

The Lao Taekwondo team visited Paris and Brussels before returning home.
